Update

FCC Announces Mutually Exclusive Applications of four or fewer applicants. Click here for the public notice. (We're in group #80 of 263, nearly all of which have faith-based organizations as applicants)

There's still light at the end of the tunnel for our community radio station project, and the Radio Enterprise team is in negotiations with other applicants in our "MX group" to reach a settlement and move towards the next step in the process. We're up against BIG faith-based corporations here -- the old David and Goliath story. These folks have BIG money, and this process would be much quicker and easier if we had a fraction of the funding they do. You, as a community have been so supportive of this effort, but we are still not home free. So if any of you out there know of someone with deep pockets and a big heart --please send them our way. To reach a settlement agreement with our competitors, it is estimated that we will need approximately $15,000 more.

Update 1/14/08 - It has been more than six months since we began the quest for a non-commercial radio station license.  During this time, so many of you have expressed your enthusiastic support for this endeavor. We believe that having a truly community radio station in our county would greatly enhance our quality of life.

We are currently in negotiations with the competing applicants to reach a settlement. In the mean time, as the process moves along, we continue to utilize our engineer and our attorney in an effort to seek solutions to the issues at hand. These people do not work for free, so we are still in need of your financial support to keep this project alive. Your contribution is tax deductible.

Press Release
December 6, 2007

The Wallowa Valley Music Alliance and the Enterprise Radio team have filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission for a license to start a non-commercial educational FM radio station in Enterprise. The Music Alliance and the Radio Enterprise team wish to express sincere thanks to those in the community who have supported this grassroots effort.

Due to competition from corporations seeking to extend their broadcasting reach into the county, the Radio Enterprise application requires an additional response from their legal and engineering teams. Although not unexpected, Radio Enterprise must respond to Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Honolulu, Calvary Chapel of Grangeville, ID, and Walla Walla University (Positive Life Radio)--groups that have made applications that in some way compete with the frequency Radio Enterprise has applied for. Despite these challenges, there is hope that the local initiative will succeed.

The Radio Enterprise team has adopted the philosophy of Goethe: Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it. Begin it now.

Community Radio Update

On behalf of the Wallowa Valley Music Alliance and the Radio Enterprise group, we would like to thank the community for your wonderful and enthusiastic response and effort to create a non-commercial community radio station. Thanks to your support and generosity, we have been successful in exceeding our initial fundraising goal of $7,200.

A local team of people, along with a hired engineer and a specialized lawyer, constructed the application, and the paperwork has been submitted to the FCC for consideration.

It will be some time before we hear whether or not we have been successful in our effort to secure the license. In order to be ready to “hit the ground running” we have scheduled a community meeting for Thursday, November 8th at 7 PM at Stage One in Enterprise.

THIS IS YOUR RADIO STATION and now is the time for everyone in our community to participate in the organizing and development efforts. Everyone’s input is critical to the success of our community radio station.

We will be forming teams to help strategize in the following areas: fundraising, marketing, programming content, organizational structure, infrastructure and student involvement.

Please plan on being a part of this community effort. For additional information you may call Janis Carper at 426-5810 or Chris Geyer at 569-5190.

Again, thanks for your support in our effort to create a non-commercial community radio station.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Are you interested in bringing a non-commercial radio station to the Wallowa Valley?  Are you interested in honoring and encouraging creativity in programming that provides opportunities for the innovative and traditional?

A group of Wallowa County residents, with support of the Wallowa Valley Music Alliance, is applying for a non-commercial radio license.  We have a very tight application window and we are requesting your support in helping us raise $6,500 to allow us to conduct an engineering study and complete a very detailed FCC application.

* A non-commercial radio station will allow us to focus on issues and concerns that affect our community.
* A non-commercial station will provide opportunities for creative and meaningful programs by the community and for the community.
* A non-commercial radio station will provide an opportunity to broaden our exposure to various styles of music and offer a voice to lesser known artists and independent musicians.

If this is the type of community radio station that you want in our valley, please show your support and take pride in helping to create a community radio station that will bring people together to celebrate the music of the world while giving a voice to the community.  Your contribution is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Yes! I would like to support applying for a non-commercial radio station.
